An IT infrastructure team based in Misrod, Bhopal is looking for a Senior Virtualization Engineer. It's a full-time, on-site role paying INR 127,500 a month.
What the job involves
You'd be responsible for the health of the virtualized infrastructure that everything else in the organization runs on, from application servers to internal databases.
- Manage and maintain the VMware or Hyper-V environment across production and non-production clusters
- Provision new virtual machines and resize existing ones as workload demands shift
- Plan host capacity ahead of time, watching CPU, memory, and storage trends so upgrades happen before they become urgent
- Patch and update hypervisor hosts on a regular schedule, coordinating maintenance windows with application teams
- Troubleshoot performance issues, tracing slowdowns back to resource contention, storage latency, or misconfigured resource pools
- Support disaster recovery testing and failover procedures for critical virtual workloads
A recent incident on the team involved a cluster that began showing intermittent storage latency spikes, and the root cause was a single host with a failing HBA card quietly degrading performance for every VM sharing that datastore. Finding that kind of problem takes a mix of monitoring instinct and patience, and it's a fairly normal week in this role.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement. Most people on this team studied computer science or a similar technical discipline, though the hiring manager has made exceptions for candidates with the right hands-on background. What matters more for this senior position is depth of hands-on infrastructure work rather than the specific degree title.
The role calls for 72 months of experience working directly with virtualization platforms in a production environment. That's enough time to have handled a real outage under pressure, not just read about how to prevent one.
Skills required
Hands-on experience with VMware or Hyper-V is essential, along with a solid grasp of virtualization concepts like resource pooling, vMotion or live migration, and storage architecture. Strong troubleshooting ability rounds out the core requirement, since most days on this job involve figuring out why something is slower or less stable than it should be.
A few things beyond the basics would make an application stand out:
- VMware VCP certification or equivalent Hyper-V credentials
- Scripting experience with PowerShell or PowerCLI for automating routine tasks
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery tools such as Veeam
- Exposure to hybrid or cloud environments, particularly Azure or AWS migrations
Compensation and benefits
Pay for this role is INR 127,500 per month. The listing on Naukri Mitra also includes health insurance, paid time off, and performance-linked bonuses tied to system uptime and project delivery. Because the position is on-site in Bhopal, relocation assistance and accommodation support are available for candidates relocating from elsewhere.
Working here
The infrastructure team is lean, so a Senior Virtualization Engineer here carries real weight in decisions about hardware refresh cycles and capacity planning, not just execution of someone else's plan. Maintenance windows sometimes fall late at night or on weekends, when application downtime must remain minimal, and that's built into the role's rhythm rather than treated as an exception. Engineers who've stuck around a while tend to say the autonomy over infrastructure decisions is what kept them interested past the first year.
How to apply
Applicants should submit a resume detailing specific virtualization projects, including cluster size, platform version, and the kinds of problems they handled day-to-day. A brief description of one significant outage or migration you led, and what you'd do differently now, helps the hiring team a lot more than a generic skills list. Shortlisted candidates go through a technical interview covering troubleshooting scenarios before a final conversation about compensation and start date.
