Lead Android Developer
This is a full-time, on-site Lead Android Developer position based in Nehru Place, Delhi, paying up to ₹154,000 per month. The role sits within our mobile app development group and reports on both the technical direction of the Android codebase and the output of the developers building against it.
The team currently supports a consumer-facing Android application with a companion iOS build maintained by a smaller adjacent group, so this person will spend most of their time in Kotlin and the Android SDK while staying close enough to the iOS side to keep feature parity sane. Release cycles run on a roughly three-week cadence, with a hard code freeze two days before each Play Store submission.
What you'll be doing
- Design and build new features for the Android application, from architecture through implementation and release
- Maintain and refactor existing app modules, paying particular attention to performance and stability across a wide range of devices
- Hook the app up to outside services, from payment gateways to analytics SDKs to push-notification providers
- Review pull requests from the rest of the mobile team and set the technical direction for how the Android codebase evolves
- Run each build through a full pass on multiple screen sizes and Android versions ahead of a release, catching what a single test device would miss
- Mentor two to three mid-level Android developers on the team, including pairing on harder architectural problems
A typical week involves a mix of hands-on coding and code review, with one or two afternoons for planning the next sprint alongside the product manager. This role is for someone who has already put in the years and wants the next step to involve more ownership, not less coding. What we're looking for
This lead role calls for a four-year undergraduate degree in computer science, information technology, or an adjacent technical field. More importantly, whoever fills it should be able to point to live apps in the Play Store rather than just describe projects on a resume, since real comfort with mobile frameworks and platform conventions tends to show up only once something has shipped.
On the experience side, we're looking for 120 months of relevant mobile development work, with a meaningful chunk of that spent in a technical lead or senior individual-contributor capacity. Someone earlier in their career who has moved fast and led a team or two along the way could still be a fit if they have the depth.
Required skills:
- Strong working knowledge of Kotlin or Java
- Deep familiarity with the Android SDK and its lifecycle quirks
- Experience consuming and integrating REST APIs
- Comfortable working daily in Android Studio
- Solid Git workflow, including branching strategies for a multi-developer team
Nice to have, though not required:
- Jetpack Compose experience, since we're gradually migrating views over from XML
- Exposure to Kotlin coroutines and structured concurrency for background work
- Some familiarity with Swift or the general shape of iOS development, useful for cross-platform conversations
- Experience setting up or maintaining a CI/CD pipeline for mobile releases
- Prior involvement in a Play Store release process, including staged rollouts
Android developer jobs in Delhi at the lead level are fairly specific about this last point: teams want someone who has actually pushed a build to production and dealt with the aftermath, not just written the code that led up to it.

The stack itself is fairly current: Kotlin as the primary language, a slow but active migration from XML layouts to Jetpack Compose, and Retrofit handling most of the API layer. Tooling decisions get revisited every couple of quarters rather than locked in indefinitely, and the lead has a real say in when that's worth doing versus when it distracts from shipping features. New hires typically spend their first two weeks pairing with an existing team member before taking ownership of their own module.
