Junior Kafka Developer
If working with real-time data pipelines sounds interesting, this Junior Kafka Developer opening in Alkapuri, Vadodara is worth a look. It's a full-time, on-site role with pay up to ₹39,000 a month, designed for someone early in their career.
What You'd Be Working On
You'd write and maintain code for the company's Kafka-based systems, working closely with the engineering team on new features as they come up. A big part of the role also involves tracking down and fixing bugs flagged during testing, which is often the fastest way to understand how a distributed system behaves under real conditions.
- Build and maintain producer and consumer applications on top of Apache Kafka
- Collaborate with developers across the team when new features touch the messaging layer
- Fix bugs surfaced during testing, particularly ones tied to message ordering, delivery guarantees, or consumer lag
- Get comfortable reasoning about distributed systems concepts as they show up in day-to-day work, not just in theory
Kafka problems can look simple until you dig in. A consumer that's falling behind can be caused by half a dozen different things, and figuring out which one it is tends to teach you more than a month of tutorials would.
Skills Needed
Apache Kafka experience is the anchor here, along with a solid grasp of distributed systems fundamentals. You'll be writing in Java or Scala, so comfort with one of those is expected, and familiarity with common messaging patterns, like publish-subscribe or event sourcing, will help you get oriented faster.
If you've touched Kafka Streams, ksqlDB, or worked with schema registry tools like Avro, that's a genuine plus. Some exposure to Docker or Kubernetes would also help, since Kafka clusters are often run on containerized infrastructure these days, though the team isn't ruling anyone out for lacking it.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree is required for this role, and computer science or IT are the most common academic backgrounds candidates come from, though Naukri Mitra notes the hiring team will look at other technical degrees where the fundamentals check out. On experience, they're looking for around six months, which could come from an internship, a college project involving Kafka or similar messaging systems, or a short prior role.
What Comes With the Role
The package includes health insurance, paid time off, and provident fund contributions. Since the position is on-site, the employer also offers relocation assistance and accommodation support for anyone moving to Vadodara for the role.
The Office
The team is based in Alkapuri, and this is an in-person role, not remote or hybrid. It's a manageable commute if you're already in Vadodara, and the relocation support is specifically for people who aren't.
Applying
Send your resume along with anything that shows hands-on Kafka work; even a small personal project or college assignment counts if it's real. Mention what you built and what broke along the way, since that tells the hiring team more than a bullet-point skills list. Expect a technical round covering Kafka fundamentals and Java or Scala, followed by a conversation about how you'd debug a lagging consumer group.
